Hyderabad: The political battle of one-upmanship between two Telugu states has reached foreign shores with the two rising political Biddas (sons) of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana landing in the United States.

While Nara Lokesh Babu, the only son of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and generally believed to be his political heir, has already arrived and was busy in a series of meetings with the investors and representatives of American companies, K. Taraka Rama Rao, minister for IT and son of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao left for the United States on Tuesday.

KTR, who is also seen as political heir to his father will spend two weeks in the US, inviting investors to his state. While meeting the US President Barack Obama will be the highlight of Nara Lokesh’s tour, Taraka Rama Rao will meet the Microsoft Chief Satya Nadella, himself a Telugu.

Despite not holding any official position in Andhra Pradesh government, Nara Lokesh will meet the representatives of American companies to invite investments in to his state. His supporters were elated in securing an appointment with Obama.

On his arrival Lokesh was given a rousing welcome by the US-based supporters of Telugu Desam. The Telangana community was also going all out to make KTR’s visit a success during which he was also scheduled to address a meeting of non-resident Telangana people in the US.

KTR, known for his articulation and command over his subject will go all out to project the vast opportunities available for investments in his state specially in the sectors of IT, Pharma, aerospace, defence and electronics.

He will give a multimedia presentations on the already existing and thriving industries and projects in these sectors and also highlights the policies and incentives announced by the Telangana government to attract huge investments.

Numerically large and strong Telugu community in the US, comprising of IT professionals, doctors and other professionals has traditionally been very active and influential. But the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and formation of Telangana state has left them now politically divided and the visit by the two rival political scions has only accentuated this divide.
