Patna: A dreaded gangster in Bihar charged with murder, kidnapping and extortion has landed in trouble after he updated his Facebook page from behind bars and also uploaded his new photograph.

The gangster, Tullu Singh, is currently lodged in Muzaffarpur central jail.

In the photographs, the gangster, with long-flowing curly hair, is seen standing outside the prisoner’s ward in the barrack of the jail. Reports said he updated his profile picture on Sunday.

The incident has been described as a major security lapse given the fact that visitors and jailbirds are not allowed cameras and cell phones inside the jail. This is underlined from the fact that the police have been routinely carrying out raids in the jail to seize any objectionable items if any. The police are now investigating as to how he managed to update his Facebook page from behind the bars.

What was further serious, the gangster also used his Facebook page to issue threats to a former lawmaker.

“Those who live in glasshouses should not throw stones. I want to tell that leader I can teach him a lesson anytime,” he wrote on his Facebook post.

Taking the matter seriously, the police have registered a case against him. A team of police officials also inspected the prison where he is lodged.

“The prisoner has denied the pictures were of the Muzaffarpur jail. He claims they are old, which have been recently uploaded on Facebook from outside the prison. However, since Facebook is something personal, we have lodged an FIR (First Information Report) against him since pictures were uploaded when he was in jail,” local Muzaffarpur district magistrate Dharmendra Singh told the media today.

Police said the gangster has been secluded inside the prison and they were investigating which part of the prison was photographed.
