Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad is passing through what could be the worst phase of his political career.

With his two sons Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashi Yadav — both of them state ministers — already under fire for allegedly fraudulently acquiring landed properties, his elder daughter Misa Bharti now faces the risk of losing her farm house in Delhi.

Local media has reported the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is probing a Rs80 billion (Dh4.5 billion) money laundering case against Misa, and could confiscate her sprawling farm house in Delhi if officials are not satisfied with her explanation.

Misa is a Rajya Sabha member from the RJD.

Earlier this month, the ED sleuths had carried out extensive searches at the Delhi farm house of the RJD parliamentarian during which they seized some incriminating documents.

Subsequently, she along with her husband was quizzed by the agency in the case but they failed to give satisfactory replies about their sources of income.

Reports said the ED may very soon begin the process of confiscating the farm house in Delhi.

According to ED sources, Misa bought the farm house using money that came through four fake companies.

Reports said that 120,000 shares of M/s Mishail Printers and Packers Private Limited were bought in 2007-08 at a rate of Rs100 per share by four shell companies — M/s Shalini Holdings Limited, M/s Ad-Fin Capital Services (India) Pvt Ltd, M/s Mani Mala Delhi Properties Pvt Ltd., and M/s Diamond Vinimay Pvt. Ltd.

These 120,000 shares were then allegedly bought back by Misa at Rs10 per share.

The ED has already filed a charge-sheet against Rajesh Agarwal, a chartered accountant allegedly linked to Misa.

According to ED sources, Agarwal was involved in transactions with a firm allegedly linked to RJD chief’s daughter.

Misa’s both brothers are already in the firing line of the opposition for similar allegations. While her younger brother Tejashwi Yadav has been named an accused in a corruption case by the CBI, her elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav has his petrol pump licence cancelled by the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for submitting fake details.

Tejashwi is deputy chief minister in the ruling Nitish Kumar government while Tej Pratap is health minister.
