Kolkata: Two jumbo-sized sandesh (a sweet delicacy from Bengal) made of cottage cheese and chocolate have been flown to New Delhi for the country’s new president Pranab Mukherjee, who was sworn in on Wednesday.

The two pieces of sandesh, weighing two and a half kg and one kg, respectively, were flown to Delhi late on Tuesday.

“The sweets are made of cottage cheese, chocolate, resins, pistachio and the famous nolen gur (jaggery),” Sudip Mullick, the owner of the city’s century-old confectioners, Balaram Mullick and Radharaman Mullick, told IANS.

The bigger sweet made of jaggery has the shape of a cake and “Dear President Mukherjee” written on it.

India’s 13th president has a sweet tooth.

The sweets are expected to be handed over to him on Thursday.
