Hyderabad: Although the arrival of the monsoon in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana was expected to be delayed by another two days, several parts of the two Telugu states were receiving intermittent rains along with gales and thunder storms since Monday.

An upper trough was prevailing from Jharkhand to Telangana, causing the thunder storms and rains.

Visakhapatnam and many other places in a Andhra Pradesh were lashed by rains since yesterday forcing the authorities to cancel Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to Araku.

Officials said the weather was not suitable for helicopters to fly to the forest area.

Many rivulets in Nallamalla forest area were also over flowing following heavy rains in Prakasham district.

Telangana state capital Hyderabad and surrounding areas received good amount of rains on Tuesday morning.

The sky was overcast and weather officials had forecast more rains over the next 48 hours. The rains have cooled down the temperature and made the weather very pleasant.

The heather office warned of more rains with isolated storms over many parts in Telangana over the next 48 hours.

Indian Meteorological Department officials in Hyderabad said the monsoon had still not entered Rayalaseema region in Andhra Pradesh and was likely to reach Telangana only after June 8.

It was likely to cover both the Telugu states by June 12 bringing copious rains

Meanwhile, Chandra Babu Naidu expressed his happiness over the start of the rains but warned that their will be deficit rainfall in the month of August.

Reviewing the weather report and the rain forecast at a meeting with officials he warned the administration and farmers to take advance measures to face the less rainfall in August.

He also noted that the state continues to face the damages due to the cyclones every year and it was necessary to take precautionary measure on the basis of the real time weather forecast.
