Thiruvananthapuram: One of the key accused in the online sex racket in Kerala, which the state police busted on November 16, has surrendered.

The accused, identified as Joshy, alias Achayan, presented himself before the investigation team in Kochi on Sunday evening.

Police had got details about the alleged involvement of Joshy in the case when they questioned another suspect, Abdul Khader who hails from Kasaragod district. Police believe that Joshy was instrumental in bringing minor girls from Bengaluru to Kerala for the racket.

“I am going to tell you all about this. I am calling a Press meet after getting bail and will be telling you everything”, Khader told media persons while being taken by police to court on Monday.

News of the sex racket hit the headlines for several days primarily because the raid on the suspected racketeers netted prominent social media activist and the organizer of the ‘Kiss of Love’ campaign, Rahul Pasupalan and his wife Reshmi R. Nair. The ‘Kiss of Love’ campaign was launched as a protest movement against the increasing number of moral policing incidents in Kerala.

Police cracked the online sex racket by posing as potential customers, in a mission titled ‘Big Daddy’. Investigations had spanned the districts of Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Ernakulam.

The accused who surrendered, Joshy, has been an accused in other sex racket cases, too. He was earlier booked as an accused in the Paravoor and Varappuzha sex rackets. While out on bail in those cases, Joshy was linked to another sex racket case in Kochi.

When police netted the gang at Nedumbassery in the outskirts of Kochi last week, one of the gang members who was bringing girls in a car, managed to evade police and drive away. One policeman was injured in the incident.
