New Delhi: Honeypreet Insan, ‘adopted daughter’ of Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS) chief and rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, on Tuesday moved Delhi High Court (HC) for anticipatory bail claiming that her life was under threat from drug mafia of twin states of Punjab and Haryana.

“I am a single woman with clean antecedents. I am a law-abiding citizen willing to join the investigation but right now my life is under threat from drug syndicate of Haryana and Punjab,” she stated in her bail application.

According to the bail application, there is nothing that can be said to be done wrong by the applicant.

“It is quite clear by the circumstances that the Haryana Police’s motive is to cause harm, harassment and injure the reputation of the applicant by arresting her and further humiliating her,” the application read.

Honeypreet said she was upset with ‘irresponsible presentation’ of her relation with DSS chief.

“I am hurt by wrongful portrayal of my relation with my father. I request the Delhi High Court for urgent hearing. Primarily I am charged for treason. The charges farmed against me are incorrect,” she stated in the bail application.

Honeypreet has been on the run since August 25 when Ram Rahim was taken to judicial custody after being convicted by special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court of raping two sadhvis (female disciples). His conviction led to widespread rioting, which left 31 DSS members dead from clashes with police and 120 injured. On August 28, Singh was sentenced to 20 years in jail for rape.

Meanwhile, in a bid to arrest Honeypreet, Haryana Police conducted raids across Delhi on Tuesday. She is wanted by Haryana Police in connection with the violence that broke out following Ram Rahim’s conviction.

“A team of Panchkula Police came on Tuesday morning with an arrest warrant for Honeypreet on a tip off that she was present in a house in A Block in Greater Kailash in New Delhi. However, the raid did not yield anything. The raid was conducted at 7:30am and only the caretaker was found. The house was registered in the name of the Dera Sacha Sauda,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Southeast Romil Baaniya told media.

The police have appealed to the public for information on Honeypreet’s whereabouts. However, on Monday evening, she visited the officer of her advocate Pradeep Kumar Arya to sign the bail application.

Haryana Police chief B S Sandhu said that police was on the lookout and Honeypreet would be arrested soon.

“A number of police teams are already on the job and if Honeypreet is in New Delhi, she will be arrested soon. Our offices are already in touch with New Delhi Police,” Sandhu told media.

Last week, Haryana police had issued a “lookout notice” for Honeypreet charging her with sedition, instigating violence and conspiring to free Singh after his rape conviction.

“Honeypreet is believed to have conspired to free Ram Rahim from the security cover that was given custody of the Dera chief after his rape conviction. She also gave a signal to Dera followers to instigate violence after self-styled godman’s conviction,” Haryana Deputy Commissioner of Police Manbir Singh told media.

Honeypreet describes herself thus on Twitter, “Papa’s angel, philanthropist, director, editor, actress and passionate to transform my rockstar papa’s directions into actions.” She claims to be an actor, director and editor, who has assisted her “guru papa” in his film ventures.
