Hyderabad: Indian Meteorological Department has warned that the well-marked low pressure area in the Central and adjoining South Bay of Bengal will further intensify into depression in the next 24 hours.

Under its influence there will be heavy rains at many places in coastal Andhra and at isolated places in Rayalaseema and Telangana, the IMD said.

The system will continue to move towards southern Odisha and north coastal Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, officials said.

With the system entering the central west Bay there will be squally winds with a speed of 40 to 50km/h gusting up to 60km/h along the north coastal Andhra and southern Odisha.

As the weather has already turned squally, the IMD has warned the fishermen not to venture into the sea along the north coastal Andhra and southern Odisha as the depression was likely to cross the coast in those areas.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh government has alerted all the district collectors to take the necessary precautions in view of the warning of depression heading towards the coast.

An IMD bulletin said that the thunder showered under the influence of the system will continue for five days.
