Hyderabad: Five members of a family, including three women and a two-year-old boy, were found dead in bushes and in a car parked along the Outer Ring Road near Narsingi under Cyberabad police station in Telangana on Tuesday morning.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Sandeep Shandaliya, who visited the scene, said it was a suspected case of suicide pact as the family was going through financial difficulties.

While the bodies of the three women were found in the bushes, the bodies of the father and the two-year-old son were found in a car parked some distance away on the Outer Ring Road.

Police said the deceased were identified as Prabhakar Reddy, 28, his wife Madhavi, 26, their son Vashisth, 2. The other two women were Reddy’s aunt Lakshmi, 42, and her daughter Sindhuja, 16.

The family had left their home in Ameenpur village, Sangareddy district, on Monday morning informing others that they were going on a picnic at Dindigul reservoir. Monday evening they called Lakshmi’s husband Ravinder Reddy over phone to inform him that the keys of the house were kept outside the house and they would return in the evening.

But as they did not return till late in the night and their phones were also switched off, a missing case was lodged at the Ameenpur police station.

On Tuesday morning the local people alerted the Narsingi police about the three bodies in the bushes.

Later, during the search the police found two more bodies in the car.

Shandaliya said prima facie it was a case of suicide as a cake box and soft drink bottles were found with traces of poison. The bodies also had froth in the mouth indicating that they had consumed poison. There were no external injuries on them. Bodies were sent to Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad for autopsy.

Police said they were investigating what led to the suicide pact.

While Prabhakar Reddy was into share trading his uncle Ravinder Reddy was an employee of ITW Signode Company.

The police are baffled why the aunt and her daughter joined Prabhakar and his family in ending their lives.
