New Delhi: In a video message gone viral on social media, Congress leader from Madhya Pradesh (MP) Shailesh Chaubey has appealed to party president Sonia Gandhi to oust her son Rahul Gandhi immediately from the Congress in order to save face.

Chaubey is apparently upset with Congress vice-president Rahul’s recent “khoon ki dalali” remark on Indian Army’s September 29 surgical strikes in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

In the one-minute-26-seconds-long video addressed to Sonia, Chaubey stated that Rahul’s remarks were “unacceptable.”

“I, Shailesh Chaubey, organisational secretary, district Congress Barwani, Madhya Pradesh, demand from All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi that after the unfortunate comment of ‘khoon ki dalali’ by Rahul Gandhi, he should be ousted from the party immediately,” he said.

He said Rahul’s comment has put Congress in a bad light.

“The one who cannot benefit the party and lacks political skills should not remain in the party. Rahul Gandhi should be terminated, he will always disgrace Congress,” Chaubey said.

He stated Sonia should assign Rahul with some other business, away from politics.

“These comments have proved Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) claims that Rahul is not able enough for his post. I request Sonia ji to remove Rahul Gandhi from Congress party and ask him to do some other business,” he added.

In a rally in Uttar Pradesh last week, Rahul had stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and some of his cabinet ministers were taking undue advantage of sacrifices made by Indian soldiers.

He had accused Modi of doing “dalali” (trade) over the blood shed by Indian soldiers.

Indian Army had carried out surgical strikes on September 29 against terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan in the wake of a terror attack that left 19 soldiers dead in Kashmir.

In the video, Chaubey said Rahul’s leadership was not acceptable to him.

“Rahul Gandhi cannot do any good to the party and so should step out of politics, should be ousted and take a career in some good business venture. Those of us who want the Congress and fight against BJP will keep fighting. But this person will defeat us on every front and his leadership is not acceptable to us because he knows no leadership,” he said.

“Sonia Gandhi is an honourable, transparent leader but Rahul Gandhi has demolished Congress student wing — National Students’ Union of India — and has no leadership potential. Congress still has better leaders to uplift the party and fight BJP,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Congress’ Barwani district president Sukhpal Parmar has written to Sonia to expel Chaubey from the party.
