Thiruvananthapuram: A 66-year-old man who has been taken into custody by police at Kundara in Kerala’s Kollam district for abusing his now deceased granddaughter is facing more allegations of sexual abuse.

The 10-year-old child was found dead in her home, hanging from a window grill on January 15. Police took it as a case of suicide. However, it has since emerged, the death should have raised suspicion given the fact that both her legs were touching the ground.

Police now suspect the girl’s mother and grandmother were aware of the sexual abuse by the grandfather.

The accused is the girl’s maternal grandfather.

Meanwhile, another girl has levelled allegations against the accused Victor — who also goes by the names Vijayan and Narayanan — saying she too had been abused by him.

The girl is a relative of the girl who was found dead in January.

Meanwhile, police have questioned Victor’s son, Shibu in connection with the death of a 14-year-old boy in Kundara in 2010, after the boy’s mother alleged that Victor and his son were responsible for her son’s death.

In the initial round of questioning, Shibu denied the allegation.

The boy’s mother said she had told police about her suspicion in 2010, and that the police had not taken it seriously.

The family then had to move from their residence, following alleged threats from Victor and his son.

Following police investigation into the death of the minor girl in Kundara, the boy’s mother felt emboldened to go to police again to press for investigation into her son’s death.

A circle inspector of police and a sub inspector of police have been suspended in connection with their dereliction of duty in connection with investigation into the case of the death of the 10-year-old girl.
