Thiruvananthapuram: The increasing incidence of abuse of girls and women in Kerala took a more unpleasant turn on Wednesday with reports that a 90-year-old had been sexually abused.
The incident is reported to have happened on Monday evening in Mavelikkara in the south of the state.
The nonagenarian was staying with her daughter in the house. The abuse happened late in the evening when the daughter had gone out to attend a local temple festival. Early reports said injury marks were found on her face and her private parts, and that she was found in an unconscious state when her daughter returned home.
She was rushed to the local taluk hospital and later admitted to the district hospital in Mavelikkara. A mobile phone that was found near the house has been handed over to the police.
