Local media in Texas have reported that the Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph is on lockdown Saturday night.
Quoting people within the base, CBS affiliate KENS-TV in San Antonio said text messages were sent to those on the base urging them to "shelter-in-place" and to lock all doors.
The three suspects were reported to have used a stolen car that crashed into a fence.
A shelter-in-place order was issued for Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph after the incident, which took place Saturday, officials said.
According to the US Air Force, two suspects were arrested, but one of the three suspects has since fled the scene and is believed to be on the base.

The US Air Force tweeted out a press release on Saturday night saying that an investigation is on-going and that an update will be given to the media at 9:15 pm local time (6.30am in Dubai).
At 12.30am Texas time (9.35am Dubai), the US Air Forcee twitted that shelter-in-place was no longer in effect, but the search for the third suspect continues.

Local media said that Dan Hawkins, a spokesman for Joint Base San Antonio, the stolen vehicle used went through the fence line on the east side of the base.
The suspects are unarmed civilians.
The base is under the jurisdiction of the United States Air Force 502d Air Base Wing, Air Education and Training Command.
