Abu Dhabi: The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced on Saturday that the package which was discovered in Dubai International Airport on Friday was shipped from Sana’a on board a Qatar Airways plane heading to Doha and then forwarded from that flight to Dubai.
The package was seized in Dubai International Airport after the authorities grew suspicious about. Laboratory tests confirmed the package contained explosive substances, the GCAA said in a statement today.
A GCAA source told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the UAE is coordinating with competent authorities in other countries about the package and circumstances surrounding it.
A spokesperson for Qatar Airways in Doha told Gulf News that they were not aware of any such shipment.
