The Jungle Book director Jon Favreau got a taste of desi flavours when the film’s lead Neel Sethi’s mother cooked him a home-cooked meal.
Neel, a 12-year-old Indian-American actor, plays Mowgli in the film, which opens on April 14 in the UAE.
Chef director and actor Favreau posted a picture of the meal on Instagram.
He captioned it: “A gracious gift from the Sethi family. A home cooked Indian feast brought to my hotel. If I ever make Chef 2, this will be on the menu. Neel’s mum is an amazing chef! #JungleBook”.
The spread for Favreau included biryani, naan and aloo gobi.
With Disney’s The Jungle Book, Favreau has re-imagined Rudyard Kipling’s 1894 classic, which was first brought alive in the eponymous 1967 animated movie.
The film is supported by a stellar cast including Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson and Christopher Walken. Its Hindi dubbed version is voiced by popular Bollywood stars, including Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan.
