Dubai: Gulf News once again swept the media awards for its coverage of the 20th edition of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).

After 32 days of coverage on the best bargains, shows and events, four of five Gulf News reporters and photographers bagged the first prize in four categories they entered for the DSF 2015 Media Awards.

The first place awards included best feature by a promising journalist, best feature on local culture and heritage and best feature on DSF and its journey over 20 years, including a first and third place photograph prize in the DSF shopping category.

The winners were honoured by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, in a ceremony at Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa.

On the occasion, Laila Mohammad Suhail, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), delivered a speech on the success of DSF and how it became an icon for festivals in the region and world.

She said that the 20th edition of the festival was a unique achievement accomplished by the leadership of Dubai and the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

She thanked the media for their efforts and contributions to the DSF and said: “I would like to deliver my sincere thanks and gratitude to the media. The 20 years of DSF became a truly wonderful trip, during which we worked together hand in hand. We have grown with you, and succeeded with the support of your sincere efforts. Together, we have seen many developments and had wonderful memories and recorded many unforgettable accomplishments.”

She also encouraged them to continue their journey with them to achieve more success in the coming years.
