DSMG has given away cash prizes of Dh4m

Dubai: The Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) has so far disbursed cash prizes of Dh4 million during its Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) promotions.

The winners of the 8th DSMG weekly raffle were announced on Thursday at Times Square Centre.

The occasion marked the penultimate draw of the season.

"In the 11th edition of DSS, DSMG has so far disbursed cash prizes of Dh4 million among 40 shoppers through its promotion. Nineteen nations are represented in the winner list and include eight Emiratis, five Indians, five Pakistanis, three Egyptians, two Filipinos, two Canadians, two Lebanese, two Saudi citizens and one each from Bahrain, Bosnia, Kuwait, Russia, Oman, Syria, Ukraine, Qatar, Jordan, Palestine and United States of America," DSS organisers said in a statement.

The latest winners were Mohammad Sadiya from Palestine, Erum Ehsan from Pakistan, Ghada Abdul Aziz from Qatar, and Fatima Ebrahim and Salama Al Dabal from UAE.

Prize money

Sadiya, a 57-year old-consulting engineer from Palestine, said that he rarely filled the coupons as he did not expect to win raffles "but this time the purchase was very high."

"From the 500-odd coupons that I was eligible for, I filled in a few and turned out lucky," he said.

About his plans on using the prize money Sadiya said that he will give away most of it to charity.

"The moment I received the call from the DSS office bearer, I knew it was to do with the raffle. A sixth sense told me I was the winner of Dh100,000. God has been kind to me and I will try to share my joy with others," he said.

Sadiya won the raffle on his purchase of a watch.

"We are pleased to be a part of DSS once again and we are glad to have made the most of the opportunity to offer the very best to our customers," said Yousuf Sharaf, managing director of Sharaf Group

"This DSS, Times Square Centre has a comprehensive offering both in terms of entertainment value and retail discounts, which certainly has boosted the rewards of the shoppers to our centre," he said.

The final raffle draw will be held on August 22 at Al Ghurair City.
