Dubai: In his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has issued Decree No (14) of 2014 appointing Shaikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan and Khalid Ganem Al Gaith to the “Expo 2020 Preparatory Committee”.
The decree is active from the date of issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
Last January, Shaikh Mohammad had issued a decree on the formation of “Expo 2020 Preparatory Committee” under supervision of Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Chairmanship of Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and CEO of Emirates airline and Group.
Pursuant to that decree, Members of the Committee include Director General of the Ruler’s Court Mohammad Ebrahim Al Shaibani as vice chairman, Minister of State Reem Al Hashemi, Chief Commander of Dubai Police, Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Director General of Dubai Municipality, Hussain Nasser Lootah, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Road and Transport Authority Mattar Mohammad Al Tayer, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation Khalifa Suhail Al Zaffein, Director General of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre Helal Saeed Al Merri.
Evaluate infrastructure
The Committee will set the required strategies and plans to organise and prepare for hosting the world’s biggest exhibition that will continue for six months in Dubai. The Committee will also evaluate the suitability and efficiency of Dubai’s infrastructure, including touristic, and transport facilities. The committee will also determine the emirate’s technical, security and economic requirements to present the best episode ever of the international event since its inauguration in 1850.
The committee’s specialty also includes defining the programmes, activities and events that will be held on the margin of Expo 2020, supervising consolidated efforts to promote the mega event and its sidelines activities locally, regionally and internationally.
