As we walked into the QD’s Iftar tent, located in the heart of Dubai, we felt a wave of nostalgia for the old school Dubai tents. It seemed like the perfect place to celebrate with friends and family and had a strong community vibe. The ambiance was very traditionally Ramadan and the tent was a large air-conditioned marquee by the water.
As we sat down and waited for the sun to set, we enjoyed superb views overlooking the waters of the famous Dubai Creek and skyline. We broke our fast with dates and a traditional rustic Harira soup with dates. The soup was well flavoured and a great way to quench the hungry and thirsty throat.
QD’s is offering a traditional Iftar buffet with delicious hot and cold Arabic mezze. We enjoyed some kibbeh, cheese fatayer and a healthy tabuleh salad with a side of hummus.
What really stood out to me was the selection of different types of hummus flavours. While most buffets offer original hummus, QD’s had basil, sundried tomato and black olive infused hummus, as well as the traditional kind of course.
Another strange but unique item on the cold mezzeh, was picked lamb tongue, I opted for the sojuk (spicy Lebanese sausages) instead.
We then moved on to the main courses. Their three stand out live cooking stations was the Lamb Ouzi station, the live Shawarma station and of course the pasta. I loved having a shawarma station, since it really added to the Arabic experience. Other main courses I thoroughly enjoyed was the unique take on the lamb biryani, the Mansaf, the mixed Arabic grills and the seafood lasagne. I also loved the special “Dahi wada” from the chef, which was super light and flavorful.
We ended the meal with delicious desserts, traditional Arabic sweets and dates. We ended the night with signature shishas while enjoying the amazing views of the creek.
