Dubai: One person was killed and 14 others were injured in traffic accidents on Dubai roads during the weekend and the first two days of Ramadan, police said on Monday.

Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Traffic Department in Dubai police, said a motorist was killed at 3.30am on Sunday in a collision between car and a lorry at 3:30am on Sunday on Emirates Road.

“The driver wasn’t paying attention to the road and was also speeding when he hit the back of the lorry. He got trapped in the car and died of serious injuries,” Brigadier Al Mazroui said.

Three passengers in the lorry including the driver suffered moderate injuries.

A man suffered serious injuries on Saturday night in a run-over accident behind the Iranian Consulate General in Bur Dubai Dubai when a motorist lost control and hit him on the pavement.

Eight people suffered moderate injuries on Sunday morning, when a bus hit another bus after jumping the red signal on the cemetery intersection in Al Ghusais.

A cyclist suffered serious injuries early Friday morning he was run-over by a motorist in the International City.

Another cyclist was seriously injured was on Friday morning when he was hit by a vehicle near Dubai Media City.

Dubai police have urged the motorists to avoid speeding and reckless driving in Ramadan.
