Dubai – The UAE will witness a scintillating array of fireworks to usher in the New Year. Skies will light up in myriad hues across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, with an unprecedented variety of pyrotechnic displays.

Abu Dhabi will have fireworks at the corniche, Al Maryah island and Qaryat Al Beri, while in Sharjah Al Majaz Waterfront and Al Muntazah Amusement and Water Park will have fireworks display.

But as usual, Dubai is the place to be on New Year’s Eve, as the entire city will transform into a party floor, witnessing one of the planet’s biggest and most spectacular displays of fireworks and pyrotechnics.

More than 2 million revellers are expected to turn up for the extravaganza in Dubai, while millions are expected to watch it live on TV across the world. Last year, around a million revellers were at Downtown Dubai to enjoy the show.

The domino effect show will ensure people from different areas can enjoy the spectacle from multiple vantage points live at the same time, which will help reduce traffic congestion around Downtown.

Special screens will also broadcast the event live at the Kite Beach, Al Sufouh Beach and JBR.

Burj Khalifa, Downtown Dubai

The party will begin with a countdown to midnight running on Burj Khalifa, followed by an extraordinary symphony of fireworks, light beams and LED displays, including the largest LED screen in the world.

Downtown Dubai will also see colourful musical performances of The Dubai Fountain as well as a ballet of light beams that will create intricately designed patterns on the facade of The Dubai Mall.

Jumeirah coastline

The fireworks will than illuminate the Jumeirah coastline, which covers the popular Kite Beach, public beaches alongside Jumeirah Beach Road as well as the Umm Suqeim Beach, where giant screens will be set up to display the works.

Burj Al Arab

Captivating the revellers along its way through Jumeirah, the spectacle will then move to Burj Al Arab just nine minutes after the stroke of midnight.

In addition to the fireworks, guests at Burj Al Arab can experience an evening of Moulin Rouge performances, filled with surprise acts throughout the evening as well as a reception in the world’s tallest atrium at Sahn Eddar.

The Beach

At 12.16am, the spectacle will move to The Beach, where internationally acclaimed DJ and producer, Pierre Ravan will headline a music party, ‘Free Spirit’, beginning 5pm.

The Beach will also see exhilarating entertainment acts — LED performances, laser shows, fire breathers as well as aerial acts to keep visitors riveted in the lead up to the midnight fireworks show.

Atlantis

Atlantis will host a bigger-than-ever show synchronised to music spanning 10 minutes besides a 10-second countdown to midnight to be marked by fireworks for each second before the actual fireworks begin. Fireworks will also spell out the word Atlantis in the sky.

Global Village

Global Village will see its most spectacular New Year celebration to date as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations featuring world-class Asian performers, stunt shows, music and fireworks display.

Abu Dhabi
