Dubai: An Emirates Boeing 777-300ER with 368 people on board has been grounded in Boston, United States after one of the aircraft’s engines caught fire on landing.
“Emirates can confirm that its flight EK237 from Dubai International Airport to Boston Logan International Airport on August 10 experienced a small engine fire on landing,” an airline spokesperson told Gulf News in an email.
There fire was quickly extinguished, the airline said, and there were no reported injuries among the 349 passengers and 19 crew members.
Emirates has dispatched a second aircraft to pick up the passengers that were due to travel on the Boston-to-Dubai route on Sunday. Flight EK238 to Dubai is now expected to land in Dubai on Tuesday morning, 12 hours after its scheduled arrival time.
“Emirates apologises for the inconvenience; its paramount consideration at all times is the safety of its passengers and crew,” the spokesperson stated.
