Ras Al Khaimah: An eleven-year-old Emirati girl drowned in a pond on Friday in Ras Al Khaimah, police said on Saturday.

The police said a family from Ajman went to Shawka Wadi to enjoy the  weather when the accident occurred. The Emirati girl went to play in a nearby rainwater pond and fell in the wadi.

The residents of the area managed  pulled out her body of the girl before a rescue team arrived at the scene. 

The girl, identified as G.J.A.SH., was taken to Al Dhaid hospital where the staff tried in vain to resuscitate her.

A hospital official told Gulf News that the girl was dead when she was brought to the hospital.

On October 8, Emirati girl drowned in the same wadi while her cousin  was rescued.

The residents are calling on authorities to install warning signboards in the area.

Colonel Ahmad Sum Al Naqbi, Head of engineering traffic at the Traffic and Patrol Department, said the police have formed a committee to find a solution for this problem and to avoid such tragic incidents.
