Dubai: Emirates airline has announced a dimensional change in passenger baggage policy with items longer than 300cm not allowed from November 15.

However, no changes are being made to baggage allowance per passenger in terms of weight.

The baggage allowance per passenger remains the same with 30kg for economy class, 40kg for business class and 50kg for first class.

Currently, the airline accepts items beyond 300cm and, in some exceptional cases, even items with all round dimensions of 400cm are allowed.

But a change to that policy will be implemented for all passengers with tickets issued after November 15.

According to an Emirates airline spokesperson, items more than 300cm in length will be allowed only through cargo.

Interestingly, baggage size allowance has also been changed for passengers on long-haul flights but the total weight remains the same.

On flights to Canada and North America, passengers are allowed two bags of 23kg each in economy class and two bags of 32kg each on business and first class.

For passengers travelling on South American routes, two bags of up to 32kg are allowed across all classes.

However, on all long-haul flights the dimension of the bags cannot exceed 150cm.
