Dubai: A water tanker driver was injured after his vehicle crashed into a truck on Emirates Road in the direction of Sharjah near Dubai Sports and Cultural Club on Tuesday.

Major Abdullah Bisho, head of the Land Rescue Department at Dubai Police’s Search and Rescue Department, said they received a call about the incident at 9.30am and teams got to the scene within eight minutes.

“The tanker’s driver, who was responsible for the accident, was trapped inside his vehicle and the rescuers used hydraulic cutters to extract him. He was transferred to Rashid Hospital an air ambulance,” he said.

Teams from Dubai Police’s land rescue and difficult missions were at the scene in addition to teams from Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Air Wing, Dubai Municipality and patrols from Al Rashidiya police station.

On Friday, an Asian man was severely injured when his vehicle fell into the Dubai Creek near the abras.

Major Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi, head of the maritime rescue department, said the operations room received a call about the incident at 6.30am.

Members of the public had already rescued the man, who sustained severe injuries.

An ambulance transported the victim to Rashid Hospital, while the maritime rescue team divers ensured there were no other victims, before recovering the vehicle from the creek.
