New permits raises number of activities already permitted to 2,125
Dubai: The Department of Economic Development (DED) has announced the addition of 37 new activities to the list of permitted businesses in Dubai. This will add to the list of 2,088 number of activities already permitted in the city making it 2,125. With the focus on supporting vital sectors, the DED has chosen to cover 35 per cent of the new activities within industrial and retail sectors.
Walid Abdul Malek, Director of Registration in BRL, said, “The activities added will help meet current and future needs of licenced owners and businesses, and complement the demand and supply situation in the local market.”
The Business Registration & Licensing (BRL), a sector of DED, conducted studies for the market and feedback from traders was used as well. The series of studies and surveys were carried out over a four-month period with over 150 businessmen and investors participating. With the new permissions, the DED’s goal comes closer of enhancing UAE’s ranking in the Doing Business report of the World Bank.
“We will continue to evaluate market requirements and discuss opportunities to add new activities in retail trade as well as the manufacturing and service sectors.” Abdul Malek said.
