The UAE has become a new member of the International Telecommunication Union, it was announced yesterday.

The membership was announced in a statement on the sidelines of Gitex 2006 by Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Government Sector Development and chairman of the Telecom-munications Regulatory Authority.
