Muscat: Oman Mobile will be the first mobile phone service provider in the country to introduce the BlackBerry next month.

The BlackBerry is a wireless handheld device introduced in 1999 which supports e-mail, mobile telephone, text messaging, internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services, and is a must for any top businessman

Oman Mobile also launched the Corporate Private Network (CPN), an exclusive service for their corporate subscribers in the country.

"Corporate customers are currently enjoying tremendous discounts on their corporate subscriptions and now, Oman Mobile corporate subscribers can sign on for this unique service and benefit from additional cost-effective business communication solutions that yield higher savings," a statement said.

"CPN is a private number plan with short codes that links a minimum of 10 or more people within the company," explained Mustafa Kombor, Corporate Sales Manager for OmanMobile.

He also pointed out that this single link or workgroup is entitled to outstanding benefits that directly translate to real business value.

Roaming

"Available across Oman with roaming facilities in over 131 countries CPN is another innovative business communications solutions service from Oman Mobile that is designed to make connection easier within your workforce," he added.

Under the CPN scheme members of one group can call each other absolutely free of charge.

Additionally, individuals within the group receive a short private number - where instead of dialing a colleague's long public number, each member is assigned a four-digit number to make communications easier.

"All the above features are available to businesses and corporate houses at an affordable monthly subscription fee of only two Omani riyals and 990 baizas per line," Kombor said.
