Dubai: Etisalat has announced the launch of its "eLife Triple Play" service which combines the company's three services: landline, broadband internet and TV.

Etisalat senior vice-president of marketing Khalifa Al Shamsi said the Triple Play bundle includes high-speed internet, 20 minutes of free international calls a month, and a TV service on its fibre optic-based network with unlimited entertainment options and high-definition video quality.

"By introducing TV on our fibre-to-the-home network, we launch today the second phase of ‘eLife' that opens doors for unmatched applications and adds significant value to our customers' lifestyles, providing them numerous entertainment options that are both customisable as well as convenient," Al Shamsi said.

Quality

"They also stand to benefit from the added value that comes with combining three home services, all at attractive prices and substantially better quality.

"In addition, with one number used for all three services means that the customer-care process is quicker and easier and ultimately our customers benefit from this enhancement."

Du offers a similar package called the Home plus package where customers are able to benefit from all three home services; landline, broadband and TV.

The introduction of eLife comes as the nationwide telecom infrastructure sharing is due to be implemented in the next few months.

Where previously operators had a monopoly on geographical locations, the nationwide infrastructure sharing will allow both du and etisalat to offer fixed-line, internet and television services across the country, putting the two operators in direct competition with each other.

Etisalat currently provides services nationwide except in certain free-zone areas in Dubai, in which du operates.

Speaking at the recent Abu Dhabi Telecoms CEO Summit, Telecommunication Regulatory Authority director general Mohammad Al Ganem said the development was being implemented to stimulate competition in the market, which had lagged significantly compared to mobile services.

"We have a new licensing framework," Al Ganem said.

"It has been looked at very carefully… it is a tool to accelerate competition in the market."

The new eLife bundle will be available immediately to eLife-connected homes.

Prices range from Dh299 to Dh539 a month.
