Dubai: Etisalat Group reported a 22 per cent year-on-year increase in third-quarter net profit to Dh2.2 billion compared to Dh1.83 billion recorded during the same period last year, fuelled mainly by international operations.

The telecom operator, which operates in 19 countries in Middle East, Africa and Asia, registered a 38 per cent increase in revenue to Dh13.2 billion compared to Dh9.59 billion last year.

Etisalat’s international operations are contributing 48 per cent to the group’s revenue while UAE is contributing 38 per cent to the group revenue.

“We are confident that the projected growth coming from our international operations will continue to grow on track to contribute at least 50 per cent to our overall revenues,” Ahmad Abdul Karim Julfar, Chief Executive Officer of Etisalat Group, said in a statement.

It has added 36 million subscribers during the last 12 months to take the aggregate base to 180 million, representing year-on-year growth of 25 per cent.

In the UAE, the active subscriber base grew to 10.8 million, representing year-on-year growth of six per cent.

The operator registered a 10 per cent increase in UAE revenues to Dh6.8 billion.
