Dubai: etisalat on Tuesday announced two new fixed broadband packages offering download speeds of 16 and 8Mbps (megabits per second) within its Al Shamil Broadband services.

Set to be the fastest home internet service in the country at 16Mbps, the new speed will rely on Fibre to the Home (FTTH) technology. The operator has already connected 300,000 homes in the UAE on FTTH network.

Available in the FTTH connected areas and priced at Dh499 per month for 8 Mbps and Dh549 per month for 16 Mbps, the new packages are also available for existing customers in the coverage area, keen on upgrading their account.

Customers can gain from four times faster speed by paying Dh100 more and also benefit from the additional offers that include free installation, one month rental waiver, five free email IDs in the .EIM domain with 3GB capacity, along with eight hours of free access every month into over 300 etisalat hotspots. In addition, subscribers will also get free eSupport software and Norton Internet Security software.

The telecom operator also announced the launch of Videoclub, the first Video On demand (VOD) service in the UAE. The service could transform the television viewing habits of customers by giving them the flexibility and interactivity to view the most comprehensive line-up of content available in the UAE whenever they want with more than 400 hours of content across Arabic, English, and Hindi.
