Dubai Du said Tuesday that a cut in an underwater cable between Dubai and Oman could effect internet services in the UAE.
In a statement Tuesday, the operator said that the cable was served at 7.45am on Monday and that operators were working to fix the problem.
"The cable cut may affect some internet users who may witness degradation in internet speed as we expect some slowness especially in peak times," Du said Tuesday.
The company said that as a short-term solution it had re-routed internet services over its other cables.
"Although the incident is not under our control, we are working with the concerned parties to ensure a quick resolution of this issue. According to cable operators, repair process has already started and performance is expected to go back to normal levels within the coming few days," the statement said.
