Dubai: A cut in an international submarine cable on Wednesday, March 23, resulted in disruption in Internet service for users across the region, including the UAE, a statement by Emirates Integrated Telecommunication Corporation (du) said.

Although the incident is not under its control, du is working with the concerned parties to ensure a quick resolution of this issue, the telecom company said.

- du has reported a disruption in internet services but says it's working quickly to restore them
"du would like to assure its customers that it has taken immediate action to ease the situation by re-routing its traffic over other available links," the statement said.
"However, customers will continue to face bandwidth degradation and longer connection times. Performance is expected to go back to more normal levels within the coming few days, according to the cable operators.
"Although the incident is not under its control, du is working with the concerned parties to ensure a quick resolution of this issue.
"du apologises for any inconvenience caused and is committed to provide further updates and actions being taken to restore capacity performance to the normal levels."
