Dubai: Middle East Rail, the region’s largest rail exhibition and conference, opened in Dubai on Tuesday.

Abdullah Bel Haif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works & Chairman of the National Transport Authority (NTA), opened the industry event following a keynote address.

Al Nuaimi said that the coming years “will be crucial for the execution” of the rail networks in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

National rail network

The UAE is currently undergoing several rail projects including a national rail network transporting passengers and cargo.

The other five GCC countries are working on their own rail infrastructure that will be integrated with all member-states.

Middle East Rail runs for two days until Wednesday (February 5).
