Gulftainer reported on Wednesday an increase in half year container volumes at its Sharjah Container Terminal (SCT).

The terminal operator said “robust UAE-East Africa trade route” had partially driven the 14 per cent increase in container volumes between January and June, compared to the same period a year earlier.

Gulftainer did not provide details on the size of container volumes in the first half of 2013 or 2014.

The operator said its SCT operators had been underlined by growth in imports of textiles, electronics, spare parts and tyres in the first of the year.
