Dubai: Shelby SuperCars (SSC), an American supercar company and creator of the Ultimate Aero, is set to launch the $740,000 (Dh2.7 million) car at the Dubai International Motor Show next week.

Acclaimed as the fastest production car in the world, the new model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 439 km/h, according to the manufacturer.

The car is imported by Ultimate Motors, a distributor of exotic and luxury sports cars in the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Customised and road-tested to suit the weather conditions in the GCC, the 2010 Ultimate Aero runs on a one-piece billet aluminium twin turbo V8 engine block designed to improve structural integrity and oiling capabilities while improving durability.

Now armed with the more powerful new engine, the 2010 model produces 1,287 horsepower, 15 per cent more horsepower than the 2007 model.

SSC also commissioned American company Aeromotive to develop a flawless system to accommodate the unique fuel system requirements of the 2010 Ultimate Aero, which features upgrades including carbon ceramic brakes and power steering.

"Our commitment to the region is underlined by our efforts to bring the latest achievements in supercar engineering to the market through our strong alliances with leading global manufacturers such as SSC. We are proud to be a part of a new milestone in automotive history with the 2010 Ultimate Aero," said Nasser Al Hai, president of Ultimate Motors.
