Dubai: Astrata Group on Wednesday announced the establishment of Astrata Middle East, formed together with Al Tayer Group Dubai, a privately owned diversified regional business, to market Astrata's advanced, full featured telematics products in the region.

Astrata will offer its state-of-the-art vehicle and personnel tracking products with supporting infrastructure and services directly to Middle East customers, leveraging on the company's success and experience worldwide, particularly the Asia Pacific region where Astrata is one of the leading providers of telematics solutions.

A senior Astrata official said: "By joining forces with Al Tayer Group, one of the best known and most respected organisations in the region, Astrata will have a tremendous advantage in introducing its telematics products to institutional customers in the Middle East region.

"The formation of this new company follows distributor agreements between us [Astrata] and a number of channel partners in Middle Eastern countries, including Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman.

"Our business in the Middle East has previously been managed out of Singapore, but due to the growing interest in vehicle and asset tracking, we firmly believe we must have a permanent marketing and support base in the region."

Dr Tariq Al Tayer, director of Al Tayer Group, said: "We recognise that Astrata's telematics products are much in demand by customers in the Middle East.

"Astrata's security and communications systems will offer institutional customers in the region an effective and proven means of protecting and monitoring their resources."
