Dubai: Patchi, a Middle East luxury chocolatier, has broken ground on its new manufacturing facility at Dubai Industrial Park, the company said in a statement on Sunday.

According to Patchi, the 122,000 square feet facility is set to become the producer’s largest, also accommodating the company’s headquarters.

The ground-breaking ceremony drew the presence of Saud Abu Al Al-Shawareb, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Industrial Park, Abdullah Belhoul, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Wholesale City and Oussama Choucair, Chief Executive Officer, Patchi UAE.

The new factory will enable the production of different varieties of chocolates, according to the statement. The facility will also house 3,000 square meters of warehouse space to facilitate deliveries of Patchi’s chocolate products.

“We are so proud to have chosen Dubai and the UAE to build Patchi’s largest and most innovative factory in the world. The new manufacturing plant will be one of its kind with so many exclusive offerings aligned with the UAE Vision 2021, to be revealed at the opening that has been scheduled 18 months from now,” Oussama Choucair, Chief Executive Officer of Patchi, said in a statement.

“We have full confidence in the UAE economy and we believe there is potential for Patchi to achieve great things here,” he added.

The UAE’s lucrative chocolate market is becoming an attractive destination for both domestic and international chocolate manufacturers and retailers. Witnessing a significant increase in demand, the UAE chocolate market is set to grow at 8 per cent annually by 2021, according to Euromonitor International. In 2016, chocolate confectionery recorded retail value growth of 14 per cent, and retail volume growth of 10 per cent, to reach Dh1.4 billion in size.
