His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday received Abdullah Yameen, President of Maldives.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were present.

During the meeting held at Zabeel Palace, Shaikh Mohammad and Yameen discussed cooperation between the UAE and Maldives, particularly in the sectors of tourism, economic and infrastructure development.

Later, Shaikh Mohammad and Yameen attended the signing of a number of agreements. Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Mohammad Saeed, Maldivian Minister of Economic Development, signed a loan agreement between the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the government of Maldives for financing the Velana International Airport project.

An agreement on mutual exemption of entry visas for holders of diplomatic passports was signed by Shaikh Abdullah and Dr Mohammad Asim, Minister of Foreign Affairs. The third agreement concerning the avoidance of double taxation on income was signed by Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and Dr Asim, while a fourth agreement on protecting and encouraging investments was signed by Al Tayer and Saeed.
