Dubai: A number of major events will kick off across Dubai, making March a busy month for the emirate. Gulf News takes a look at some of the highlights taking place.

The Dubai International Boat Show, one of the largest and most important events of its kind in the region, will mark its 20th anniversary this year.

The event, which takes place March 13-17, will be a classic showcase of yachts, supercars, equipment and supplies from both local and international builders together with the latest innovations in marine industry.

The Dubai International Boat Show is also one of the fastest-growing leisure marine industry exhibitions in the world, drawing thousands of regional and international boating enthusiasts.

"The 20th edition is positioned to widen its global reach even further, with exhibitors signed up from over 40 countries including new members hailing from as far afield as Madagascar and Tunisia," said the organisers.

Moving from the marine industry to aviation, the Aviation Outlook Mena forum brings airline CEOs together to map out how the industry must re-shape itself for long term competitiveness and viability. The forum, which takes place from March 19 to 21, will host speakers from Emirates, Qatar Airways, Air Arabia, Gulf Air, Oman Air, Safi Airways, RAK Airways, Bahrain Air, Go Air, Jazeera Airways, NAS Air and others.

Now in its 12th year, Careers UAE 2012 is a well-established recruitment, education and training event which will be exclusive to UAE nationals.

The recruitment event, which takes place from March 5-7 at Dubai's International Convention and Exhibition Centre, helps leading employers and Emiratis come face-to-face. It is designed to expose jobseekers to education, training and career opportunities. This also falls under the UAE's Emiratisation strategy. The first day of the event is by invitation only, however the second and third are open to the general public.

Latest developments

Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), a platform for national and international companies, provides avenues for industry leaders to keep abreast of the latest developments in the Gulf region in the field of water, energy and environment, and to network and tie up with strategic partners to pursue innovative solutions. This year, the exhibition will expand to include fossil fuels under the leadership of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. The event takes place from March 13-15.

The Public Relations World Congress (PRWC), a biennial event that brings together global PR professionals, will be hosted for the first time in the Middle East this year. More than 500 delegates from across the world are expected to attend the 20th edition of the Congress, which will include sessions centred on three broad themes: Political Change and Public Relations, Restoring Trust: The Media and The Message and Next Practices: Communications in the Digital Age. The event takes place March 13-15.

Also happening for the first time is Playworld Middle East, a new trade exhibition entirely dedicated to children's products. The exhibition presents worldwide manufacturers and their innovations as well as regional distributors of renowned brands representing everything from toys to children's furniture.
