Dubai: Ford Middle East has not received any orders yet from the manufacturer's US headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, on how to handle the announced recall of several car models.

"We are still waiting for clarification," a Ford Middle East spokesperson told Gulf News Saturday.

"As soon as we know more, we will inform our customers accordingly."

On Friday, Ford said it would recall 33,256 cars worldwide because there was a probability that front seats and head rests could collapse during a crash.

Affected cars are the 2010 models of the Ford Fusion and Explorer as well as the Mercury Milan and Mountaineer.

The automaker said it expects to begin notifying owners of the recall by letter on April 30.
