The event organised by the Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council and Turret Media, is also looking to increase the number of Emiratis employed in positions ranging from entry-level to senior management in sectors such as banking and finance, oil and gas, hospitality, government service sector, military, telecommunications, and aviation.

"We've participated in Tawdheef as well as other recruitment events…they are a great place to recruit Emirati candidates for various positions….we hire 80 per cent of our new recruits at these events," said Jamal Khalifa Lootah, Senior Director, National Recruitment and Development, Human Resources and Shared Services, at du.

"Emiratis, both male and female, currently make up 23 per cent of our workforce and of that, 35 per cent are in senior management positions…and because the telecommunications industry is a very innovative field, we are expecting increased demand and interest from Emiratis to join us," he added.

Organisers said Tawdheef 2011 would offer visitors the chance to learn more about career development, human resources and scholarships at seminars run by the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, throughout the three-day exhibition.

Explore options

"I've actually visited the exhibition since it was first launched and am always impressed by the number of companies participating here," said Shaima Jamal, an Emirati IT student at Abu Dhabi University.

"They give us a chance to explore a wide variety of career options that we may have not considered before…last year, I received a call back from one of the companies I had applied to and I hope it will happen again this year."
