Dubai: Aon Hewitt, a global professional services firm, has identified this year’s best employers in the Middle East, with at least three companies based in the UAE winning the title.
This year’s awards went to Jumeirah Group, Mundipharma and Emirates Fast Food Company- all from the UAE.
The other recipients, who were honoured at an awarding ceremony in Dubai this week, included DHL (Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar and UAE), Novartis Pharma (Levant), Rotana Hotel Management Corporation (Lebanon and Iraq), Marriott International and Marriott Vacation Club.
Now in its 17th year, the Aon Best Employer programme recognises companies who are taking steps to ensure their workers are feeling valued, empowered and satisfied.
Aon’s research showed that the majority of employees (85 per cent) working for the best employers feel valued, compared to a market average of 63 per cent. The best employers also have a higher loyalty rate, with 85 per cent of their staff saying they are willing to stay, compared to a market average of 66 per cent.
The organisations were chosen based on a number of factors, including employee engagement, employer brand, leadership and performance culture.
The list was based on feedback received from participants from a variety of industries, including finance, food and beverage, hospitality, pharmaceuticals and many others.
“The best employers research examines the alignment between the HR’s input on programs that meet the organisation’s strategic goals and the employee voice,” Aon Hewitt said.
Companies who have been included in the award said the recognition serves as an acknowledgment of their pro-employee initiatives.
“This award recognises our commitment across the organisation to ensure that employees have a workplace where a solid working environment with opportunities for growth and career progression is fostered,” said Geoff Walsh, Senior vice president and country manager for DHL Express UAE.
The Aon Best Employers programme runs across 14 markets in Asia Pacific and the Middle East, including Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
