Dubai: Residents in the UAE can have the opportunity to drive home a sports utility vehicle (SUV) that has just been given a perfect five-star safety rating.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has declared the Tesla Model X as the safest SUV ever tested in the world.
The electric-powered vehicle starts from $82,500. According to Tesla, the car is the first SUV ever to earn the five-star rating across the board.
“[The government agency] has awarded Model X a five-star rating in every category and sub-category,” Tesla said.
“The data from NHTSA’s testing shows that Model X has the lowest probability of injury of any SUF it has ever tested. In fact, of all the cars NHTSA has ever tested, Model X’s overall probability of injury was second only to Model S,” Tesla said in a statement posted on its website.”
The company had earlier launched a website dedicated for car buyers in the UAE. Tesla said it would start taking orders for the vehicle and that deliveries were expected in the summer.
