Dubai: Italian sports car brand Maserati has maintained its growth credentials in the Middle East and Africa markets for a fifth straight year. While the company has not given a breakdown of its overall unit sales, it said there was a “modest increase” over the 2014 record tally.

The UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait registered triple-digit growth numbers in 2015, to be top three regional markets. But the highest growing markets were the “newly reopened India and South Africa, with a growth of 257 per cent and 154 per cent respectively,” the company said in a statement.

Helping its numbers this year will be the introduction of its first SUV, the Levante, at the Geneva Motor Show in March. “The Levante is undoubtedly the next big milestone in Maserati’s history,” said Umberto Cini, Managing Director of Maserati Middle East, India and Africa.

“Our product portfolio is growing and we have developed in leaps and bounds in terms of quality and reliability, network infrastructure, service offering and customer satisfaction.

“As an exclusive luxury brand, our sales volume is a drop in the automotive ocean — for the entire region together it is in the low four-digit numbers. But considering it is 10 times as much as when we first started out in the region in 2006, it’s a phenomenal achievement and a testament to the products and the brand.”
