Abu Dhabi: Yousuf Ali M.A. has won the elections to the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry with a thumping majority.

Out of 2,599 votes cast by expatriate voters, Yousuf Ali got 2,256. The elections were held for 15 seats of the Chamber out of which 13 are for local candidates and two are for expatriates.

The other expatriate candidate elected is Qasim Alom, who got 1,715 votes.

This is the second time elections have been held for the Board of Directors and both times Yousuf Ali has been elected.

Both expatriate candidates were part of the ‘Abu Dhabi First' panel which consisted of 15 candidates.

Yousuf Ali thanked fellow business community members who voted for him and vowed to work towards the betterment of the economy of Abu Dhabi.

General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, congratulated Yousuf Ali and urged him to work with renewed focus for the overall development of Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Vayalar Ravi, Indian Minister for Overseas Indians, described the landslide victory as a proud moment for India and Indians.
