Abu Dhabi: The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has released a list of officials outside the ruling families which in its opinion are the most influential in the UAE.

The list compiled by Zawya Dow Jones reporters includes the names of UAE nationals as well as expatriates.

Emiratis

Its list of the most influential Emiratis includes Mohammad Al Shaibani, chief executive of Investment Corp of Dubai and director of the Dubai Ruler's Court; Khaldoun Al Mubarak, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority and chief executive of government-owned investment firm Mubadala Development; Mohammad Al Abbar, chairman of Emaar Properties; Yousuf Al Omair Yousuf, chief executive of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Co, and Sultan Bin Nasser Al Suwaidi, governor of the UAE Central Bank.

Also on the list are: Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, chief of Dubai Police; Abdulaziz Al Ghurair, chief executive of Mashreq Bank; Khalifa Mohammad Al Kindi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Investment Co, board member of Abu Dhabi Investment Council and International Petroleum Investment Co; Ahmad Humaid Al Tayer, governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre and Chairman of Emirates NBD, and Ahmad Ali Al Sayegh, chairman of Aldar Properties and chief executive of Dolphin Energy.

Adnoc CEO Yousuf Al Omair Yousuf is described by the WSJ as "the man who keeps Abu Dhabi's oil flowing".

Describing Dhahi Khal-fan, the WSJ says: "The Lieutenant General is responsible for keeping the streets of Dubai crime-free.

Expats

According to the WSJ, among the most influential expatriates are: Tim Clark, president of Emirates airline; Michael Tomalin, group chief executive of National Bank of Abu Dhabi; Yousuf Ali M.A., Managing Director of Emke Group, and Aidan Birkett, Chief Restructuring Officer of Dubai World.
