Six Filipinos make it to Forbes Asia's billionaire list

Philippine president's uncle makes cut, along with business magnates Henry Sy and Lucio Tan

Manila: Henry Sy, whose main business interests are shopping malls and construction, led five others in the Philippines on Forbes Asia's annual listing of billionaires.

Sy, whose family owns 42 SM malls, several condominiums, and Banco de Oro, the Philippines' top bank, is ranked 116th by Forbes among the richest in the world with a net worth of $8 billion (Dh29.37 billion).

Lucio Tan, who owns Fortune Tobacco, Asia Brewery, Philippine Airlines and Philippine National Bank was ranked 314th with a net worth of $3.5 billion.

Andrew Tan, head of real estate group Megaworld Corporation and the Golden Arches Development Corporation — a MacDonald franchisee, was placed 601st with a net worth of $2.1 billion.

Enrique Razon Jr, 52, who owns International Container Terminal Services, was named 683rd richest with a net worth of $1.9 billion.

Aquino's uncle makes cut

Eduardo Cojuangco, head of San Miguel, a food conglomerate, boasts a net worth of $1.3 billion and ranked 960th. He is the uncle of President Benigno Aquino.

Roberto Ongpin, a real estate developer with a $1 billion net worth made the list as the 1,153rd richest in the world.

Forbes' list included 1,226 billionaires worldwide.
