More than 80 global firms and exhibitors representing 200 brands from 22 countries took part
Dubai : The third annual Halal Expo 2009, the "definitive event" for the halal industry in the region, has capped off its impressive run with record sales and visitors.
Orange Fairs and Events, organiser of the event, has revealed the exhibition witnessed active participation from leading international and regional exhibitors from the halal industry, 90 per cent of whom have already confirmed their presence at the November 2010 event.
Endorsed by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event hosted more than 80 global companies and international exhibitors representing 200 brands from 22 countries. One of the success stories that emerged during this year's expo was JES Middle East LLC, a leading exporter of halal beef from Japan, who reported it has initiated talks with several companies in the hospitality sector.
Global interest
The company also revealed that participating at the event has provided a good head start in achieving its target to grow its UAE exports to Dh1 million in 2010 and double that figure the following year.
"The Halal Expo is truly becoming the region's definitive event for all key players in the industry and this event has offered exhibitors from the halal industry an excellent opportunity to expose their products to a global audience, which is precisely what they need to penetrate the broader market," said Nafees Ahmad, Project Manager, Orange Fairs and Events.
"The exhibitors have really exerted considerable effort to prepare for this event and this shows the rapidly increasing global interest in the region's halal market, particularly in the UAE."
Among the top global companies featuring Sharia-compliant products present were Khazan (UAE), and beef producers Real Food Company Sdn Bhd (Malaysia). Other participants were from Argentina, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the US and the UK. Aside from manufacturers and service providers, regional and global halal certification authorities, chambers of commerce and international halal associations participated in the event.
