Dubai: The world needs to coordinate efforts, unify visions, and shape common solutions to social, economic and development challenges facing states, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said on Sunday.

In a statement ahead of the seventh Summit on the Global Agenda which he will open in Dubai on Sunday, Shaikh Mohammad said: “Today, the world is more globalised, and challenges which have become trans-border can only be countered through joint action, clear thoughts and a serious combination of international capabilities.

“The leaders and people of the UAE welcome participants to the summit and wish for success for their efforts to shape and finalise a common global vision on several issues. The UAE, through hosting the summit for the seventh time in a row, takes pride in being an open global platform that pools ideas together to come up with solutions and make the future”

Shaikh Mohammad described the summit as “the world s largest brainstorming meeting where the world presents the gist of its ideas, experiences and propositions for the sole goal of achieving happiness for humanity. The UAE has backed and will always back all efforts to achieve real human development and build a better future for all societies and nations.”

Organised from November 9 to 11 under the theme “Shaping the Transformations of the World”, the Summit on the Global Agenda 2014 is aimed at shaping the global agenda by bringing together more than 1,000 leaders of the World Economic Forum’s Network of Global Agenda Council in the lead-up to the World Economic Forum 2015 in Davos.

Participants will explore the mapping of transformations related to global, regional and industry issues. The multidisciplinary platform of the summit will reinforce the Network’s prime role as a future-oriented global agenda-setter. They will share insights, define emerging trends and risks, and build connections to collectively develop solutions to more than 80 global challenges.
